Portland, OR isn’t like Portlandia…at least not for most of us. This city isn’t a bastion of progress like you might think. The city has a long history of racism and dumping additional burdens on overburdened communities.

I grew up in Portlandia (lived in various parts of it throughout life) the political shift to independent officially on paper actually officially started happening when I was still in Portlandia. My philosophy of Portlandia is very true to this day: I love to visit there but not to live there.
