Scott Pelley’s 37-year career at CBS News ended in flames after he was terminated for cause following a tense confrontation with new leadership. At roughly $7 million a year, Pelley’s insubordination in meetings crossed a line that cost him his job. CBS should consider the real fix: cut 60 Minutes down to 30 minutes, slash salaries in half, and focus on culture-politics intersections instead of one-sided hard news that audiences have grown tired of.
